Brownie Fest at Sumburgh Lighthouse
Join us for a nostalgic dive into film photography at the iconic Sumburgh Head Lighthouse.
Enjoy a guided tour of the historic lighthouse buildings, then head into the Observatory for a cuppa and a slice of brownie (other sweet treats available!).
You’ll be introduced to vintage Box Brownie cameras, each loaded with medium format film ready for you to shoot. Take a stroll, capture the magic of the moment, and we’ll take care of the rest—Chris G Smith Photography will develop your film and send you digital scans so you can relive and share your experience.
Perfect for beginners, enthusiasts, and anyone curious about the charm of analogue photography!Open to all ages - under 16s to be accompanied by an adult. (no additional charge for accompanying adults).


Cyanotype Workshop at Levenwick Community Hall

Join us for an afternoon of creative experimentation with cyanotype printing – a beautiful, historic photographic process known for its striking blue tones.
Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to explore new ideas, this hands-on workshop will guide you through the basics of the cyanotype process from start to finish.
A curated selection of images, flowers, and feathers will be provided for you to create unique prints. You’re also welcome to bring your own items such as:
– Fabrics (cotton, linen, etc.) to print on
– Flowers, leaves, or seaweed to create organic impressions
– Personal images (please email these by 27th May to cgsphotos@outlook.com if you’d like us to prepare a digital negative for printing)
Spaces are limited to 10 people, so booking is essential. All materials and guidance are included – just bring your creativity!
